The Village which is situated in Bromhof, a North Western Suburb of Johannesburg was founded in 1984 and built specifically as a 100 unit retirement Village with a Care facility on 13 acres of land. Its design is unique in that it has one circular road, off which the parking areas and garages are situated. The semidetached units of up to four connected are of identical size, and are wheelchair friendly. They consist of a kitchen, open plan area for dining room and lounge, two bedrooms, one full bathroom and an open patio. The units are in rows, each row separated by pathways and gardens, both private and common, both being a significant feature of the Village. Each unit is allocated one garage (not attached to the unit), but there is ample additional parking (some covered), if a resident has more than one vehicle.
Over the years some owners have altered their units to include an additional bathroom, and to enclose the patio. Kitchen and bathroom structures have also been upgraded in certain cases.
The Village now has an upgraded licensed 24 hour care/assisted living facility with mid care and rooms, some of which are en suite. A fully qualified matron is in charge with appropriately qualified staff. We emphasise that we do not cater for advanced alzheimer's cases. There is a swimming pool, a bowling green, a lounge, a library which provides a significant selection of large print books, a roofed verandah, and a dining room, in which lunch time meals are served, or as takeaways. The kitchen also provides a full set of meals to the Care Centre. The dining room is also used for various functions and social/entertainment activities. Special occasions are also celebrated in the dining room, and braais and happy hours are held regularly.
